Duck Shrine

The Duck Shrine is a player-built structure that allows players to summon Ducks by fishing in its waters.

Construction

A valid Duck Shrine consists of:

  • A 3x3 water pool in the center
  • A 5x5 border of valid border blocks surrounding the water

Layout

[B] [B] [B] [B] [B]
[B] [W] [W] [W] [B]
[B] [W] [W] [W] [B]
[B] [W] [W] [W] [B]
[B] [B] [B] [B] [B]

Where:

  • B = Mud Bricks
  • W = Water

The structure must be flat (all blocks at the same Y level).

Usage

Summoning Ducks

To summon a Duck:

  1. Build a valid Duck Shrine
  2. Cast a fishing rod into the 3x3 water area
  3. Wait for a fish to bite (the bobber must be bobbing)
  4. Reel in the line

If a fish is biting when you retrieve your line at a valid shrine, a Duck will emerge from the water and be flung toward you. You also receive the normal fishing rewards (fish, treasure, or junk) as a bonus.

Cooldown

Each player has an individual 5-minute cooldown for summoning Ducks at shrines. Attempting to summon during the cooldown displays a message showing the remaining time.

Messages

Event Message
Successful summon “Something emerges from the depths…”
On cooldown “The shrine’s power has not yet recovered. Please wait Xm Xs…”

Notes

  • The fishing bobber can be in any of the 9 water blocks and the shrine will be recognized
  • The cooldown is tracked per-player, per-server (saved in world data)
  • Ducks summoned from shrines are identical to Ducks spawned by any other means
  • The shrine does not generate naturally; it must be built by the player
