Wrath of the Duck Gods
Wrath of the Duck Gods is a powerful harmful status effect inflicted on any entity that kills a Duck. It creates an intense lightning storm around the affected entity and applies debilitating effects.
Effect
When Wrath of the Duck Gods is applied, the following effects occur:
Weather
The world’s weather immediately changes to a thunderstorm for the duration of the effect plus a small buffer.
Lightning Storm
Lightning bolts strike around the affected entity throughout the effect’s duration:
| Phase | Lightning Interval | Bolts per Strike | Radius |
|---|---|---|---|
| Start (0%) | 0.5 seconds | 1-2 | 20 blocks |
| End (100%) | 0.5 seconds | 5-6 | 3 blocks |
The lightning radius shrinks from 20 blocks to 3 blocks over the duration, making the strikes increasingly concentrated on the target. These are real lightning bolts that can cause fires and damage entities.
Debuffs
The affected entity receives:
- Darkness: Pulsing (short duration applications for fade in/out effect)
- Slowness I: Constant while effect is active
Visual Effects
- Soul fire flames circle around the entity
- Soul particles rise from the ground
- Large smoke columns appear in the vicinity
- Angry particles appear above the entity’s head
Causes
| Cause | Potency | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Player kills a Duck | I | 15 seconds |
| Non-player entity kills a Duck | I | 7.5 seconds |
Notes
- Hurting a Duck (without killing it) causes immediate lightning to strike the attacker, but does not apply this effect
- The effect cannot be avoided by killing Ducks from a distance, as any killing blow triggers it
- Players receive a threatening red message when this effect is applied
- The shrinking radius ensures that even if the player runs away, the lightning eventually catches up
Trivia
- The particle effect (angry villagers above the head) represents the Duck gods’ displeasure.
- At maximum intensity near the end of the effect, 5-6 lightning bolts strike within a 3-block radius every half second.
